Aircraft Services Directorate (ASD) is located at the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport. Our office is at 200 Comet Private, Ottawa ON.
Intent of the process
Stream 1: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Fixed Wing
Stream 2: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Rotary Wing
Stream 3: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer - Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS)
The immediate intent of this process is to staff Aircraft Maintenance Engineers for Rotary Wing and/or Fixed Wing in Ottawa, Ontario. A pool of qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical EG-06 positions with various language proficiencies (English Essential or Bilingual Imperative BBB/BBB) within Aircraft Services in Ottawa, Ontario.

-Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
-Possession of a valid passport.
For some positions:
-Successful completion of medical examinations as prescribed by Health Canada.
-Willing and able to undertake initial and update dunker training (also known as underwater escape training (UET) or helicopter underwater egress training (HUET).
-Willingness to travel in order to repair/return to service an unserviceable aircraft that is away from base.
-Willing and able to travel for extended periods up to six (6) weeks at a time aboard Canadian Coast Guard or Government of Canada Ships in Coastal Waterways.

Operational Requirements

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
For all positions:
OR1: Willingness and ability to undertake training to maintain or upgrade knowledge, skills, and abilities.
OR2: Willingness and ability to work in a flexible environment on a variable day work and/or shift work schedule, including weekends and some standby on the employee’s days of rest.
OR3: Willingness and ability to work in various positions on aircraft, in the hangar, and in a non-hangered environments, which may involve standing, kneeling, lying, and sitting as well as crawling into confined spaces and climbing elevated maintenance stands.

EDUCATION:
ED: Successful completion of a recognized post-secondary school program in aircraft maintenance or an acceptable combination of education, training, and experience deemed equivalent for the position.

OCCUPATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
OC: Possession of a valid Canadian Aircraft Maintenance Engineer category License M1, or M2, or M1 and M2.
EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Recent* and significant* experience as a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer maintaining fixed or rotary wing** aircraft.
*Definition of significant and recent experience: Significant experience means at least 3 years of relevant experience. Recent is defined as within the last 5 years.
**Stream 1 requires fixed wing aircraft experience; Stream 2 requires rotary wing aircraft experience; and Stream 3 requires either fixed or rotary wing aircraft experience.

AEX1: Experience or training in maintenance for one or more of the following aircraft types:
- Bombardier Challenger 600/601/604/650/RJ
- De Havilland Dash-7/Dash-8 Series
- Bell 412
- Bell 429
- Bombardier Global Series
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
AEX2: Experience or training on Class 1/2/3 Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS).
ASSET ABILITIES:
AA1: Ability to interpret technical instructions and drawings.
