About the position

Duties
If you love hiking in the prairie elements, presenting, and connecting with visitors from around the world, this may be the job for you! Working as a Heritage Presenter will provide an opportunity to share with others about the natural and cultural wonders of this native prairie ecosystem. It can be rewarding and meaningful work as you open the doors of discovery, learning and reflection. When not delivering guided hikes and programs you will be tending to the Visitor Centre and Campground Office by providing reception, orientation and safety messages to the public.

• Making connections between the past and present
• Having conversations to foster understanding and appreciation of the natural and cultural heritage
• Delivering programming for visitors that is thoughtfully informed and dynamic

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - Obtain and maintain Reliability Status Clearance.

Obtain and maintain valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent throughout your employment.

Operational Requirements

Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform.
Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays.
Willingness to stand/walk/hike and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation for prolonged periods.

EDUCATION
Grade 12 or GED equivalent or have an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.

Experience delivering presentations.
Experience with program development or creative activity planning.
Experience with local Indigenous language, history, traditions, and culture

Knowledge of natural and cultural heritage specific to Grasslands National Park.
