About the position

Duties
- The successful candidate will work in CHDIDM as a Field Infrastructure Specialist supporting the site searches, set-up, and teardowns of the temporary examination centre (TEC) as it travels across Canada and the CHDIDM Fleet when not on travel status.
- The successful candidate will perform site searches of upcoming locations to be visited for data collection. Discuss with proprietors of potential sites, their cost, and location, analyses the survey requirements and technical standards, regulations, and procedures, assists own management in final decision making for the site location.
- The successful candidate will plan, manage, and supervise the job site work performed as per Health and Safety regulations, including the multi-trade contractors’ activities required for the Temporary Examination Centers (TECs) setups and teardowns, as well as for TECs and equipment maintenance.
- The successful candidate will perform worksite activities, including carrying out non-certified equipment construction (for example building wooden ramps) and/or maintenance tasks, recommending solutions to technical issues related to trailers and equipment as per established procedures, as well as recommending modifications to trailers to improve efficiency.
- The successful candidate will provide ongoing support and assistance to the Infrastructure and Logistics Team and other teams in the Center, including but not limited to informing managers on the status of ongoing activities, participating in project meetings, sharing and obtaining information with all the teams involved in survey collection and operations (Acquisition team, subject matter team, IT team, MEC team etc.), creating and updating documentation related to advance arrangements and support of the TECs in addition to preparing plans, layouts, and drawings for individual trailers and their equipment.

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
- Reliability Status security clearance.
- Travel: The work requires frequent travel (approx. 24 weeks per year) and regular absences from home and family with minimal to moderate flexibility in schedule. The approximate duration while on travel per year is 104 days.
- Willingness to work shifts, statutory holidays and overtime including weekends as required by operational requirements.
- Willing and able to work in hot and cold conditions.
- Willing and able to lift 11.3 kg (25 lbs) while practicing proper safety measures.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
-This is mandatory in-person position, 5 days a week from Monday to Friday and sometimes weekends.
- Willingness to accept workplace conditions and physical effort required such as:
1. Exposure to dust, toxic substances, excessive noise, and disagreeable weather conditions.
2. Obligation to be mobile including, but not limited to, work which requires climbing ladders, reaching, pulling and extending, and transportation of heavy equipment and material up to 25kg; lifting associated with loading and unloading delivery vehicles.

EDUCATION:
Millwright Certification or Trailer Technician.
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXPERIENCE:
- EXP1. Recent* experience in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues with machinery and/or trailers.
- EXP2. Recent* experience ensuring equipment complies with safety regulations and standards, maintaining detailed records of services performed.
- EXP3. Recent* experience in replacing malfunctioning equipment parts and components on machinery and/or trailer systems.
- EXP4. Experience with shipping/receiving and/or receiving goods.
- EXP5. Recent* experience drafting and submitting service requests for trades.
- EXP6. Recent* experience in drafting service level agreements and/or letter of agreement and/or liaising with third parties to lease a facility.
*Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last five (5) years.
