About the position

Duties
- The successful candidate will work in Centre for Health Data Integration and Direct Measures (CHDIDM) as a Site Logistics Officer providing technical services for the Temporary Examination Centers (TECs) including for Mobile Examination Centers (MEC), other direct health measures collection vehicles (Lab RV,etc.) and temporary building location setups and teardowns as well as their technical maintenance. They will ensure the TECs environment is functional and safe through the collection period.
- The successful candidate will perform TEC collection setups and activities with the Collection Team and ensure all equipment is in working order and that materials are distributed appropriately.
- The successful candidate will perform TEC teardown activities with the Collection Team and ensures equipment and materials inside the TECs are secure for transport and distributed accordingly.
- The successful candidate will report back to the Site Manager and Infrastructure and Logistics Team on the status of any unresolved issues as per established procedures.
- The successful candidate will track and receive freight shipments, dry-ice delivery & storage, and biospecimen shipments; use and knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG) , enters shipment information in tracking system, prepares labels and Bill of Ladings, labels boxes with appropriate information, is the onsite contact between the TEC and Laboratories receiving and analyzing the samples.
- The successful candidate will coordinate and troubleshoot issues from the TEC with Head Office and complete minor repairs and installations such as plumbing, electrical, generator function, if necessary. Ensure TEC environment is safe for the employees and respondents. Liaise with external providers and ensure all services are received, documented for invoice confirmations and purchase supplies required for collection with use of Acquisition Card such as groceries, laundry services etc. as per established procedure.
- The successful candidate will actively maintain the staff trailer and equipment to ensure a clean, healthy, and safe work environment and perform activities such as shoveling of snow, de-icing, maintaining safety signage, installation, and monitoring of safety equipment onsite. Provide ongoing support and assistance to the Infrastructure and Logistics Team and other teams in the Center, including but not limited to informing managers on the status of ongoing activities, participating in project meetings, sharing and obtaining information with all the teams involved in survey collection and operations (Acquisition team, subject matter team, IT team, MEC team etc.), creating and updating documentation related to support of the MECs environment and other direct health measures collection vehicles (Lab RV, etc.).

Conditions of employment

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Reliability Status.
• The employee will be required to report to the Examination Centre location and must be available for continuous travel across Canada. The Examination Center typically relocates to a new collection site approximately every six weeks. Staff are generally granted a weekend home visit approximately every three weeks for a total of four days, including travel time. While the reporting location will be the Examination Center, there may be periods, depending on operational requirements, where the employee will be required to report to another work location.
• Required to work shifts, statutory holidays, and overtime, including weekends, as operational needs dictate.
• Mandatory in-person position the majority of the time, typically five days per week, may include some weekends.
• Willingness to accept workplace conditions and physical effort required such as:
- Willing and able to work in hot, cold, or otherwise disagreeable conditions (dust, noise, fumes, or poor ventilation).
- Exposure to biological, chemical, and electrical hazards; must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and complete health and safety training.
- Physical effort required: lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs), frequent bending, reaching, and climbing ladders; occasional work in confined spaces.
- Must exercise caution in winter conditions (ice, snow).
• Work may involve tight deadlines, multiple concurrent demands, and stress associated with continuous travel and varying accommodations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION:
A Millwright Certification or Trailer Technician Certification.
OR
An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

EXP1. Recent* experience in inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing mechanical issues with machinery and/or trailer systems.
EXP 2. Recent* experience ensuring equipment complies with safety regulations and standards, maintaining detailed records of services performed.
EXP 3. Recent* experience in replacing malfunctioning equipment parts and components on machinery and/or trailer systems.
EXP 4. Experience with shipping/receiving and/or receiving goods.
*Recent is defined as having performed the duties within the last five (5) years.
