About the position

Work environment
Please note selected candidates will be required to work in the office full-time.
While the positions are currently located in Edmonton, it is anticipated the unit will be moving to Sherwood Park early 2026.
Intent of the process
The intent is to establish a pool of qualified candidates to staff positions within the Serious Crimes Branch.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Conditions of employment

Possession of a valid Class 5 (or equivalent) driver’s license

Operational Requirements

You need (essential for the job)

Your application must clearly explain how you meet the following
Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience

Experience providing clerical support services, such as data entry/maintaining information in a database, preparing correspondence, maintaining a filing system, processing mail, managing agendas and schedules, and organizing meetings
Experience working with computer applications, including or similar to Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Word
Experience providing service to internal or external clients, via telephone, in-person or by e-mail
Ability to communicate effectively in writing
Applied / assessed at a later date
Demonstrating integrity and respect
Thinking things through
Working effectively with others
Showing initiative and being action-oriented
Dependability
Attention to detail
Ability to communicate effectively orally

Experience providing financial support services (e.g., preparing expenditure reports, tracking budgets)
Experience working in a law enforcement and/or legal environment
Experience maintaining a law enforcement database, such as the Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), Police Reporting and Occurrence System (PROS) and/or Justice On-Line Information Network (JOIN)
Experience with transcription
Experience providing records management services
