About the position

Work environment
The community of Wabasca has a higher than average crime rate. In the role, you may be faced with complex and/or difficult encounters. The successful candidate should be prepared to work in this type of environment.
Intent of the process
This process will be used to staff one indeterminate full-time position in Wabasca, AB. A qualified pool of candidates may be established and used to staff similar positions with various tenures within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment).
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance - RCMP Enhanced Reliability Status security clearance
NOTE: Successful candidates will require a valid RCMP security clearance prior to appointment and throughout the tenure of their employment. The process to obtain RCMP security clearance involves a security/reliability interview and a field investigation regarding matters of criminal activity which includes reference checks, verification of credit/financial status, education, employment, etc . As such, the process may take several weeks or months to complete.

Operational Requirements

Willingness and ability to work in a busy police environment, including exposure to unsettling and/or graphic material.
Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
Willingness and ability to travel for work and/or training purposes using various modes of transportation.
Willingness and ability to maintain a valid class 5 driver's license.
Willingness and ability to work onsite in Wabasca, AB
