Intent of the process
The Department of National Defence (DND) is entering a pivotal period of transformation and growth, driven by evolving national and global geopolitical priorities. As we rise to meet these evolving challenges, DND is seeking skilled and dedicated professionals to help shape the future of Canada’s defence. Several targeted recruitment initiatives are underway to attract diverse talent across a wide range of disciplines, enhancing our ability to deliver on strategic and operational objectives.
The intent of this process is to build a dynamic pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates to fill current and future vacancies across DND’s operational landscape. We plan to fill position(s) on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in the National Capital Region for the following roles:
AS 01
• Junior Security Analyst
• Administrative Officer
• Corporate Services Administrative Officer
AS 02
• Intermediate Security Analyst
• Corporate Services Officer
• Project Officer
• Quality Control Analyst
The appointed candidate must meet all essential qualifications and conditions of employment and be administered the Oath before being appointed to the position. Administration of the Oath concerns individuals appointed from outside the public service.

Ability and willingness to work in-person on site at the designated workplace. Most positions require full-time in-person on-site work.
Managers may establish additional conditions of employment specific to the position being staffed. These conditions will be communicated to the candidates considered for that specific appointment.

A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives.
Notes:
The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:

Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.

• Experience providing administrative support, including managing multiple files or projects and prioritizing workload to meet deadlines.
• Experience gathering and organizing information and providing recommendations.
• Experience providing client service.
• Experience using Microsoft Office applications (for example, Outlook, Word, Excel).

ASSET EXPERIENCE
All positions:
• Experience working or volunteering in a mixed military/civilian environment.
• Experience working with multiple stakeholders or clients.
• Experience providing client service or administrative support in a security-related environment, including handling and analyzing information to support operational or decision-making activities.
Corporate Services Office, AS 02:
• Experience providing administrative support to management.
• Experience coordinating travel arrangements using software.
• Experience processing expense claims using software.
Intermediate Security Analyst, AS 02:
• Experience processing security requirements for visitors or contractors entering a secure site.
Junior Security Analyst, AS 01 & Intermediate Security Analyst, AS 02:
• Experience working within a Personnel Security Screening environment.
Note: All essential and asset experience can be gained within or outside the workplace (including in the context of volunteering, schoolwork, or community engagement).
Appointment decisions may be based on one or more of the following criteria:
- Matching of the individual's experience or qualifications to the strengths and weaknesses of the work team;
- Matching of the individual's experience or qualifications to the specific duties of the position being staffed;
- Depth, breadth, type of work-specific experience;
- Level/degree of one or more competencies/qualifications;
- Organizational Needs.
Please note that achieving the pass mark on any of the assessments used does not mean you will move forward in the selection process. Management may decide to use a score that is higher than the pass mark on any of the evaluations used throughout the selection process. Management may also decide to use top-down selection at any stage of the process.
