Senior Engineering Officer:
SO-MAO-06 $48.64 to $53.89 per hour
SO-MAO-07 $50.48 to $55.97 per hour

⚓ What you’ll be doing as key activities:
■ Supervising and managing engine room personnel, financial resources and materiel.
■ Planning and directing the operation, maintenance and repair of the main propulsion plant, electrical plant, auxiliary machinery, deck machinery, hotel equipment and miscellaneous systems.
■ Provide technical advice and support to vessel client personnel.
■ Participating in shipboard emergency and safety drills such as firefighting, abandoning ship, man overboard, damage control, and other operations such as search and rescue.
■ Managing, directing and participating, if required, in the watch keeping system.
■ Compiling, recommending and managing refit specifications, vessel's additions and alterations, and other contract repair work required for the upkeep of the vessel.
■ Providing all support necessary to ensure Canadian Coast Guard meets its mandate.

■ Valid Transport Canada STCW Certificate of Competency - 4th Class marine engineering certificate or higher.
■ You have experience managing shipboard personnel, operations and refits.

Conditions of employment

■ Maintain valid secret security clearance
■ Obtain and maintain a valid Health Canada medical for seagoing personnel
* A valid Transport Canada Seafarer’s medical may be accepted on initial appointment for a period of up to a maximum of 6 months or until a Health Canada Medical is completed.
■ Maintain valid Transport Canada certificate of competency
■ Willingness to be deployed within your assigned region
■ Requirement to go to sea for prolonged periods of time and in adverse weather conditions
■ Requirement to travel by sea, land or by air
■ Requirement to wear and maintain a uniform, safety footwear and personal protective equipment to CCG standards
■ To work overtime when required
■ Valid Canadian Passport (for identified positions). For Canadian Permanent Residents: valid Permanent Resident card.
■ Compliance with the Canadian Coast Guard Safety Management System and Standards
■ Strict adherence to the Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces Code of Values and Ethics, Values and Ethics Code for the Public Sector, Directive on Conflict of Interest, and Defence Administrative Orders and Directives (DAOD) 7021-1, Conflict of Interest.
