The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is seeking an experienced Senior Advisor to lead the development and implementation of its Workplace Mental Health Program. As a key member of the Health, Safety, and Wellness team, the individual will play a strategic role in promoting psychological health within the organization, working in sensitive contexts with rigor, discernment, and expertise.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the Workplace Mental Health Program, ensuring alignment with best practices.
• Provide personalized support to employees, including case management, individualized care plans, and referrals to appropriate resources.
• Serve as the primary resource and coach for peer supporters in mental health, ensuring their ongoing support and training.
• Collaborate closely with internal services (accommodations, return-to-work, employee relations, wellness) to support employees effectively.
• Facilitate conflict resolution related to harassment, violence, or mental health issues by moderating discussions and coaching involved parties.
• Design and deliver mental health training sessions; ensure policies are aligned with the Canadian federal public service Psychological Health Directive and the CSA Z1003 standard.
The PPS is a separate and distinct organization not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. It has its own classification, compensation system, and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.

The pool may also be used in the future to staff similar positions within the PPS and other organizations.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a post-secondary educational program* in psychology, occupational health nursing, social work, nursing with mental health specialization or significant experience, public health and/or other related education and significant experience dealing with mental health and trauma care OR an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.
*The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
EXPERIENCES:
EX1: Recent* and significant** experience in developing, implementing and supporting workplace-based mental health programs.
EX2: Significant** experience providing individualized support related to mental health, including case management, care planning, and referrals to internal and external services.
EX3: Recent* and significant** experience in developing and providing mental health training or coaching to employees and/or peer supporters.
EX4: Recent* and significant** experience providing facilitation and coaching in psychologically sensitive workplace situations.
