The Advisor, Health, Safety and Wellness, is responsible for planning, developing and managing the delivery of OHS advice and services for the PPS and its employees. Various programs and services relating to firearms, equipment, and safety, training, fitness, mental health, and ergonomics must be reviewed, developed, re-designed and implemented as part of the health and safety mandate. This role plays a lead in ensuring these programs and services are delivered.
The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. It has its own classification, compensation system, and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.

EDUCATION:
A university degree in a relevant field such as, but not limited to, occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, science or nursing or an equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience.
*The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
EXPERIENCES:
EX1: Recent* and significant** experience providing advice and making recommendations to managers and clients on Occupational Health and Safety and Environment (OHSE) matters.
EX2: Significant** experience in the interpretation of legislation, regulations or policies related to Occupational Health and Safety and Environment (OSHE).
EX3: Experience in supervising investigations related to Occupational Health and Safety and Environment (OHSE).
DEFINITIONS:
*Recent means within the past five (5) years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are acquired on a full-time basis for over a given period of time.
ASSETS :
OPERATIONAL CERTIFICATION:
Safety-related designation such as Certified Occupational Health Nurse OR Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) OR Certified Health and Safety Consultant (CHSC) or equivalent.
Regulated health care professional designation in good standing.
EXPERIENCES:
AEX1- Experience in a security or law enforcement work environment.
AEX2- Experience in human resources within the public service (including separated agencies and crown corporations).

You must be eligible to obtain both a Site Access Clearance and an Enhanced Reliability Status. The process involves a background investigation that includes:
