Duties

Key Responsibilities of an MPNRC (Military Police National Records Centre) Operator:

1. Data Entry:
↪ Enter and update data into police databases and systems
↪ Ensure accuracy and completeness of entered data
↪ Verify data for discrepancies and correct errors

2. Record Maintenance:
↪ Maintain electronic and paper records of police reports, incident logs, and other relevant documents
↪ Organize and file records systematically for easy retrieval

3. Confidentiality:
↪ Handle sensitive information with utmost confidentiality
↪ Adhere to data protection policies and procedures

4. Reporting:
↪ Generate reports from police databases as required by police officers and administrative staff
↪ Assist in compiling statistical data for departmental analysis

5. Communication:
↪ Liaise with police officers and other department staff to clarify data requirements
↪ Respond to inquiries regarding data entry and records

6. Quality Control:
↪ Conduct regular audits of data to ensure accuracy and compliance with departmental standards
↪ Implement corrective actions for identified data issues

7. Technical Support:
↪ Provide basic technical support for data entry systems and software
↪ Report technical issues to IT support for resolution

8. Training:
↪ Participate in training sessions to stay updated on data entry procedures and software
↪ Assist in training new staff on data entry protocols

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill six (6) bilingual positions on an indeterminate (permanent) basis in Ottawa, Ontario. A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION

▶ A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives

Notes:

1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
↪ A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
↪ An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Candidates who already meet both of the following criteria must be accepted as meeting the secondary school diploma requirement:
↪ Candidates who have achieved a satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; and
↪ Candidates who have been appointed or deployed for an indeterminate period to a position in the AS classification.

The opportunity to be assessed by at least one of the two employer-approved alternatives must be offered to candidates who have not previously met the secondary school diploma requirement.

Candidates who were appointed or deployed on an indeterminate basis using an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience meet the secondary school requirement for the AS classification only and must be reassessed for entry to other classifications on the basis of this alternative.

2. Acceptable experience and/or training in a field relevant to positions in the AS classification is required when the education qualification specified for the position being staffed is a secondary school diploma or approved employer alternatives.

▶ Experience with Fleet management system
