Duties

As a Staffing Assistant or a Junior Compensation Advisor, your tasks will be as follows:

-Conduct research and analysis in support of staffing or compensation activities.
-Respond to enquiries and provide information on staffing procedures, compensation entitlements, etc.
-Perform various duties, such as preparing job advertisements, organizing candidate assessments, drafting letters of offer, determining employee compensation entitlements and processing requests.
-Maintain files and collect and enter data in human resources management systems.

Intent of the process

The immediate intention of this process is to staff nine (9) bilingual BBB/BBB positions for specified period (term):
- Five (5) Staffing Assistant positions
- Four (4) Junior Compensation Advisor

A pool of qualified bilingual candidates may be established to fill positions at the same group and level or equivalent, on a temporary (casual) and specified period (term) basis.

EDUCATION
Secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
Experience in providing administrative support services in human resources (HR).

Administrative support services in HR may include, but not limited to:
• File and archive HR documents
• Document and update employee leave and pay file
• Keep HR databases up to date
• Responding to inquiries and assisting managers, employees and/or clients with respect to HR processes and procedures.
• Organize interviews (planning, sending invitations)
• Support logistics for new employees onboarding or training sessions
• Prepare letters of offer
• Compile applications received and prepare the tracking table
• Follow up on security checks
• Prepare HR service requests
• Etc.

Or

Experience in delivering customer service and/or providing administrative support, combined with studies in human resources.

Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
This selection process intends to staff bilingual positions ONLY. Candidates will need to be evaluated in their second official language (French or English).

ASSETS - EXPERIENCES & ABILITIES
Experience in data extraction to produce various reports.
Experience in supporting HR advisors.
Experience in coordinating information sessions or administering various written exams and/or interviews.
Experience using a HR Management System, such as PeopleSoft, PIMS and PSRS.
Experience in the provision of compensation services.
Experience in using Phoenix pay system
Ability to use efficiently* Microsoft Excel and Word
Ability to use efficiently* Microsoft Office 365**.

*Efficiently means using intermediate-level features.
**Microsoft Office 365 includes Outlook, Teams, OneNote, Forms, Planner, and Copilot software.

This selection process consists of five (5) steps. At each stage, only candidates who achieve the passing score will be invited to proceed to the next step:

1. Second language assessment of written comprehension and expression
2. Test to assess attention to detail
3. Validation of education and assessment of essential experience
4. Test to assess the ability to prioritize and manage a high workload, as well as the ability to communicate in writing
5. Pre-recorded interview to assess the following abilities:
- Communicate orally
- Interpersonal skills
- Resourcefulness
- Customer service orientation

Preference

Preference will be given to veterans first and then to Canadian citizens and permanent residents, with the exception of a job located in Nunavut, where Nunavut Inuit will be appointed first.
