The Regional Senior Investigator position reports directly to the Regional Manager.
The Regional Senior Investigator is responsible of leading and supporting rail occurrence investigations. This include responding to rail occurrences across Canada, developing technical investigation reports, and communicating investigation results to the public.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is part of the core public service administration named in Schedule IV of the Financial Administration Act (FAA) and is also subject to the Public Service Employment Act (PSEA). This being said, the TSB is an independent arm's length agency that reports to Parliament through the President of the King's Privy Council for Canada. The organization aspires to be a modern world-class organization that evolves and adapts as it strives to influence changes that advance transportation safety. The TSB has a strong reputation in Canada and around the world.
The TSB is a small organization with approximately 240 employees and 5 Board Members, including the Chair. The organization operates in a decentralized manner through 10 locations across Canada. Employees work in a collegial and collaborative environment.
The immediate intent of this process is to fill one indeterminate position at the bilingual imperative BBB/BBB level. A pool of partially qualified candidates may be created and used to staff similar positions at this group and level with various language profiles, as well as various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, acting, assignment and secondment).

Railway Car Inspector or Locomotive Inspector
Note: Occupational certification need not be valid at the time of application.
Minimum total of 6 years of recent* experience working in the railway industry in the following functions:
Rolling stock (rail cars, locomotives) inspection, maintenance, or repair;
or
Design, modification, or testing of rolling stock and their components
* Recent experience is defined as being normally acquired within the past ten (10) years.
Technical College certification/diploma from a recognized institution.
University degree from a recognized institution.
Any recent* experience beyond 6 years in freight rolling stock.
Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing risk-mitigating strategies.
Experience in writing technical or accident reports.
Experience working in railway management.
Experience working for a regulatory agency.
* Recent experience is defined as being normally acquired within the past ten (10) years.
Bilingual - Imperative (BBB/BBB)
