Reporting to a Program Manager, you will provide health and safety expertise and coordinate the development, implementation, and monitoring of occupational health and safety practices across Parks Canada's wildland fire management and enforcement operations. You will be responsible for conducting task-related hazard analysis and developing appropriate corrective measures. You will participate in wildland fire management incidents and law enforcement operations to support health and safety elements. You will be responsible for staff training, and you will work closely with the Human Resources team (Occupational Health and Safety, Wellness, Disability Management, Occupational Health Monitoring Program, Centre of Expertise in Prevention and Resolution of Harassment and Violence in the Workplace, etc.)

🎓EDUCATION
EDU: Postsecondary diploma from a recognized institution in a program related to the position (e.g., occupational health and safety, industrial hygiene, ergonomics, industrial relations, etc.) OR an acceptable combination of education, training and experience.
The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.

*Significant and recent experience is defined as the depth and breadth associated with having performed a broad range of related activities as the main functions normally gained over a minimum of two (2) continuous years of continued work or the equivalent of at least twenty-four (24) months total of active work within the last five (5) years. OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Successfully pass the occupational health evaluation for firefighters.
• Ability to meet and maintain the Moderate Fitness standard as per the Work Capacity Fitness Testing Standard for Parks Canada Wildland Fire Personnel, measured by the field pack test.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform and personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays (national, provincial or territorial), when required.
• Willingness to travel across Canada for extended periods of time to attend meetings, receive and deliver training, and assist with operational incidents.
• Ability to safely work and travel under challenging conditions (e.g., various weather conditions, diverse terrain) for extended periods of time and in isolated locations with limited amenities.
• Ability to address challenging requests and varied, unpredictable requirements.
• Security screening: Obtain and maintain secret security clearance
• Maintain a valid Class 5 driver’s licence
