This process will be used to staff one indeterminate CO-02 and one indeterminate CO-01. Education:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in a field relevant to the duties of the position.
At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed, may serve as an alternative to meet the minimum education standard. Experience – Business Officers (CO-01) and Senior Business Officers (CO-02):
• Experience working in or closely with one or more of Manitoba’s priority economic sectors to advance the interests of businesses and promote growth.
• Experience gathering and analyzing data and diverse opinions on business or economic issues to develop strategic recommendations for senior management.
• Experience developing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders (e.g. industry, government departments, post-secondary institutions) to advance economic development initiatives or projects that build business capacity.
Experience – Senior Business Officers (CO-02) only:
• Experience working with businesses to better understand their financial and operational needs, including reviewing financial statements and assessing funding proposals (including business plans).
• Providing leadership and advice on *complex economic issues and initiatives to strengthen Manitoba's economy.

Asset Qualifications
Education:
• Formal professional and/or academic designations related to the duties of the position.
Experience:
• Experience in helping connect Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) with large defence contractors and attracting defence/security and aerospace funding from Canadian and international government and industry sources.
• Experience with military procurement processes including timelines, risk tolerances, and compliance requirements.
• Experience in program delivery or grants and contributions management.
• Experience in assessing new and emerging advanced manufacturing and/or technology adoption initiatives.
• Depth, breadth and scope of experience in any one or combination of the experience criteria.
Knowledge:
• Knowledge of the challenges and opportunities facing priority economic sectors in Manitoba and the organizations working to support businesses in these sectors
