Assessment accommodation

About the position:
Under supervision, the candidate will conduct research to advance public health and knowledge of infectious diseases, specifically DOT (Directly observed therapy) for Tuberculosis (TB).
This includes examining the current evidence and providing knowledge mobilization on the history of and evidence for and against DOT for TB. Considerations of how best to support TB patients and their families in communities will be the focus of this position and the end
products. The student’s knowledge translation products and presentations will be for public health and wider practitioner audiences.

Responsibilities:
• Conducts literature reviews and succinctly synthesizes evidence on 1) the history of directly observed therapy (DOT) for tuberculosis patient treatment; and 2) other essential patient supports;
• Contributes to and develops oral and visual presentations, undertakes new knowledge translation products (could include infographics, podcast, plain language materials, posters, etc.), and coordinates tasks.
• Contributes to ensuring that explicit equity and diversity considerations have been incorporated into all activities, products, and outputs listed above.
• Provides regular reporting.
• Undertakes other duties as assigned.

Work environment

• Graduate student will be supervised jointly by NCCID and PHAC. NCCID will provide day-to-day support to the student, as well as office space and desktop three days per week.
• Hybrid time divided between two Winnipeg offices and potentially work from home.
• Typical office and remote days may fluctuate depending on management functions. Flexibility is required by the employee to manage days in the office and working remotely from home.

Intent of the process

This process is intended to hire 1 student for a 16-week, full-time term.
Start date is flexible, term must be completed by December 19, 2025.
Hours of work: 37.5 hours/week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

The successful candidate will be expected to report in office in Winnipeg, Manitoba in accordance with the hybrid working model.

Education:
Currently enrolled in full-time studies at the Graduate level by the post-secondary academic institution at which you are currently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance, or in the process of submitting your application (Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date).

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience and knowledge in population health and/or public health.
• Knowledge translation or plain language communications.
• Demonstrated experience conducing literature reviews.

*In the context of student recruitment in the Federal Public Service, the experience can be acquired through the studies, work experience, or volunteer activities.
