The Actuarial and Forecasting Unit at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as an Actuarial Analyst. The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of tasks, including evaluating and approving actuarial methodologies used by provinces in the delivery of agricultural insurance programs across Canada.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing actuarial expertise to support federal approval of changes to provincial AgriInsurance programs.
• Assisting in the development and validation of pricing methodologies, yield projections, and assessments of program self-sustainability.
• Contributing to the establishment of guidelines for actuarial certifications of crop insurance programs.
• Supporting the department in the development of agricultural and agri-food policies and programs through actuarial analysis and insights.

Immediate need: The intent is to staff one position for a 12-month term, with the possibility of extension, to replace an employee on maternity leave.

EDUCATION:
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in actuarial science from a program accredited by the Canadian Institute of Actuaries’ University Accreditation Program.

EXPERIENCE:

EXPERIENCE:
AEX1 - Experience performing the duties of an actuarial analyst.
AEX2 - Recent* experience in agricultural insurance or in an actuarial field transferable to the agricultural insurance sector.
*Recent experience is defined as experience gained within the last five years.
