Duties

1️⃣Career Development and Resourcing
Are you interested in directly supporting the career paths of police officers and public service workforce in the RCMP? 2️⃣Public Service Human Resources
Working within a dynamic environment alongside Human Resources (HR) professionals, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing advice and guidance to various client managers within their designated portfolios on Staffing matters. Working closely with clients, the Human Resources Advisor will collaborate in developing the merit criteria, assessment tools and provide strategic staffing advice.

3️⃣Labour Relations
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is committed to taking a modern and innovative approach to labour relations. Working within a dynamic environment alongside Human Resources (HR) professionals, the Human Resources Advisor is responsible for providing advice and guidance to various client managers within their designated portfolio on Labour Relations matters.

Work environment

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff an indeterminate full time position in Whitehorse Yukon.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in conducting research and analysis to provide advice or recommendations in a human resources discipline;
• Experience in the interpretation and application of legislation, policies, guidelines and procedures in a human resources discipline;
• Experience responding to a wide range of human resources related inquiries from supervisors/managers and employees.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Experience maintaining and updating a Human Resources Management Information System (e.g. HRMIS, PeopleSoft)
Experience in providing strategic advice, options and recommendations in the area of staffing;
Experience in providing strategic advice, options and recommendations in the field of labour relations;
Knowledge of laws, policies and trends relating to human resources management in the federal public service

Willingness to travel occasionally and be able to do so.
Willingness to work overtime on occasion.
Willingness to relocate within 40 km of position location

Conditions of employment

Whitehorse is classified as an Isolated Post. As such, the successful candidate must meet all the conditions under the Isolated Posts and Government Housing Directive prior to appointment. In addition, the successful candidate will be entitled to an Isolated Post Allowance.
