Work environment

Parks Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s outstanding natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

This position is based in Inuvik; Canada’s largest community north of the Arctic Circle. A hub for the Western Arctic region, Inuvik offers unrivalled opportunities to experience Canada’s unique northern cultures and some of the world’s greatest natural landscapes. EDUCATION:
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience relevant to the position or a secondary school diploma.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE :
• Experience in the provision of administrative support services to internal clients and the public;

• Experience working in finance/administration (accounts payable/receivables, purchasing and information management);

• Experience in using e-mail, internet and standard office software (e.g. Word and Excel);

• Experience in maintaining electronic or hard copy filing systems.

ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience using financial management tools (SAP and STAR), including spreadsheet and databases in a work environment;
• Experience in performing financial support functions (e.g. managing petty cash, verifying or preparing invoices, etc.);
• Experience in initiating procurement processes;
• Experience working in and delivering services to a northern and/or isolated community.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Wear a Parks Canada uniform as per the uniform policy;
• Work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
• Travel for work and/or training purposes.

Conditions of employment

• Obtain and maintain valid class 5 driver’s license or equivalent.
