In addition to providing a super opportunity for career growth and development, this job in Iqaluit comes with a competitive salary, health and dental benefits, an employee pension PLUS:

At CanNor, HR Advisors are generalists who work on all aspects of HR. Most new HR Advisors come to the team with experience in one or two areas and then they develop in the other areas through experience and training. There is often an opportunity to travel for training.
Over time, HR Advisors get experience working in staffing, recruitment, training, labour relations, classification/job evaluation, HR planning and compensation. We may be biased but we think CanNor is the best place to work in human resources!
About CanNor:
Established in August 2009, and recently having celebrated its 15th year, the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) is the only federal agency with an exclusive mandate for the Territories. It is one of the smallest of the Government of Canada’s regional development agencies with a staff of less than 125 employees. Headquartered in Iqaluit, Nunavut, CanNor's vision is to develop a strong, diversified, sustainable and dynamic economy for Northerners and Indigenous people, communities and businesses across Canada's three Territories. It achieves this through its mandate of fostering regional economic development across the North by delivering programs, building partnerships to leverage investments in the North including northern project management and advocating for the interests of Northerners and Indigenous peoples.
CanNor is also home to Pilimmaksaivik, the Federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment in Nunavut. It is the office responsible for coordinating a government-wide approach to building a representative public service in Nunavut across all groups and levels.
"Pilimmaksaivik" is an Inuktitut word chosen by Inuit employees as the name for the Federal Centre of Excellence for Inuit Employment in Nunavut. It roughly translates to "a place to develop skills through observations, mentoring, practice and effort". Pilimmaksaivik supports Inuit societal values to carry out its work.
As an HR Advisor at CanNor, you would play an important role supporting CanNor and Pilimmaksaivik, in recruiting Inuit talent and delivering other important Inuit Employment Planning activities. You would also provide client support to colleagues at our headquarters in Iqaluit and also to colleagues in offices in the Yukon, Northwest Territories and Ottawa.
CanNor offers a diverse, inclusive, respectful, and healthy work environment with flexible arrangements for work-life balance, including teleworking, and compressed hours. You would be part of a friendly and supportive HR team. If you value teamwork, challenging assignments, innovation, collaboration, and high-quality client service, we want to hear from you!
Intent of process is to fill 1 indeterminate (permanent) position in Iqaluit, NU, at either the Human Resources Advisor (Developmental) (PE-02) level or Human Resources Advisor (Generalist) (PE-03) level. What differentiates the PE-02 and PE-03 roles is the level of autonomy and breadth/complexity of the work.
Inuit enrolled under the Nunavut Agreement will be considered ahead of other applicants.
