Assessment accommodation

The salary range for this positions is: $68, 188 to $89, 699 per annum.

In addition, the selected candidate(s) will also be entitled to:
• A Northern isolated post allowance ranging from approximately $9,336 to $12,989 per year;
• 1 Vacation travel assistance per year approximately $831.60 per dependent (i.e. the employee and eligible dependents, including spouse/common-law partner), based on current rates for Whitehorse.

CanNor is headquartered in Iqaluit, Nunavut with regional offices in Whitehorse, Yukon and Yellowknife, Northwest Territories. There is also a liaison office in Ottawa, Ontario.

As an Economic Development Advisor working within CanNor’s Yukon Operations team, you will provide support to important programs and projects, engaging key partners and stakeholders in the region. The role will provide you the opportunity to make a significant difference in the economic and social wellbeing of Indigenous peoples and northern residents; by working directly with communities and businesses, and witnessing first-hand the results of government investments.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to fill one (1) full-time Economic Development Advisor position on a permanent basis at the CO-01 level in Whitehorse, Yukon. Successful applicants will be required to work onsite in Whitehorse, Yukon.

An anticipatory pool of qualified candidates may also be established for potential future vacancies in the Whitehorse office and may be used to fill similar positions, with varying tenures, in any of CanNor’s northern offices.

An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, that is comparable to a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:
E1: Experience planning, developing and implementing social, economic or business development projects or programs.
E2: Experience in providing advice or recommendations to management.
E3: Experience in analyzing information from multiple sources and preparing reports or presentations.
E4: Experience in collaborating and maintaining relationships with internal and external partners.

- Willingness and ability to travel in northern Canada and/or to small remote communities in northern Canada. This often requires multiple night stays in remote communities.
