Assessment accommodation

All applicants for positions within the Royal Canadian Mounted Police will be subject to a thorough security clearance process which includes an interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to): reference checks, previous employment, online activities, credit checks, alcohol and/or drug use.

Duties

The Disability Management Advisor works with a highly qualified multidisciplinary team to perform, but is not limited to, the following duties:

• Oversee the case management of members on disability and/or requiring medical accommodation in the workplace, through a combination of direct involvement and the supervision of a Disability Management Coordinator (AS-02);
• Provide informational and consultative presentations to detachments and other operational sectors in “C” Division;
• Work with the Occupational Health and Safety Services team in managing complex files in compliance with organizational policies and procedures;
• Reporting to the manager of Occupational Health and Safety Services, work with defined objectives in case management outcomes and organizational consultation;
• Prepare routine statistical reports on disability management.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one (1) full-time, indeterminate position in Westmount (Quebec). This advertised process is ANTICIPATORY.

A pool of partially or fully qualified candidates may be established to staff similar or identical positions within the RCMP, the duration of which (term or indeterminate) and/or the security clearance (enhanced reliability, secret or top secret) could vary depending on the position.

Should a Public Service (PS) employee be found qualified and selected for appointment notification regarding the PS appointment will be posted accordingly on www.jobs.gc.ca.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category. Information regarding the CM appointment will be sent to all applicable candidates who are within the area of selection and participated in the advertised process.

EDUCATION:

A degree in social sciences or health sciences OR an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience in the field of disability management.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE:

Recent* and significant** experience in the management of files in at least two of the following programs within the public or private sector: health and safety program, return-to-work program or disability management program.

Recent* and significant** experience of the formulation of advice to managers (at all levels) and employees on the application of legislation and policies related to the health and safety program, return-to-work program and/or disability management program.

Recent* and significant** experience in the preparation of presentations, briefing notes and/or reports for senior management.

Experience conducting research, analyzing and providing recommendations.

Experience in organizing, preparing and facilitating meetings.

*A “recent” experience is defined as experience acquired within the last five (5) years.

**A “significant” experience is defined as experience acquired over a period of approximately one (1) year.

Must meet and maintain the security clearance: Royal Canadian Mounted Police Enhanced Reliability Status Security Clearance.
