Looking for more than just a job? At the Department of National Defence (DND), you'll find a career that matters—one that supports the safety and security of Canadians at home and abroad. In Quebec, DND offers unique opportunities across three distinct and strategically important locations: Montreal, Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, and Valcartier. Each site brings its own character, community, and professional opportunities to the table.
In Montreal, Canada’s vibrant cultural capital, you’ll work in a fast-paced urban setting that blends historic charm with modern energy. This city is a hub for innovation, diversity, and bilingualism, where the pulse of downtown life meets meaningful federal service. Head just 40 minutes south and you’ll find Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, a picturesque riverside city steeped in military tradition. Known for its strong community feel and quality of life, Saint-Jean offers a peaceful backdrop for purposeful work, especially in training and leadership development. Travel northeast and you’ll arrive in Valcartier, just outside Quebec City, where forested landscapes and crisp mountain air surround one of Canada’s most operationally active military bases. Here, career meets adventure as you support missions and training exercises that have global reach.
Together, these three locations offer not only exceptional career pathways within DND, but also the chance to live and work in some of Quebec’s most dynamic and historically rich communities.
