Duties

Key activities of this position may include:

↪ Supervising and providing leadership to analysts and technicians, and supporting their ongoing professional development.
↪ Leading teams in the planning, development, implementation, integration, and day-to-day support of departmental or agency IT infrastructure and services.
↪ Conducting or coordinating analysis for the development, implementation, integration, or maintenance of IT infrastructure operations and services, and preparing related technical reports and documents.
↪ Providing specialized technical advice and guidance to management, colleagues, and clients on the design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of IT infrastructure and services.
↪ Representing the team in meetings with managers, clients, technical staff, and suppliers.
↪ Leading projects, advising technical teams and contractors on complex IT issues, and managing project budgets.

This position is located at 5th Canadian Division Support Base Gagetown (5 CDSB Gagetown), which consists of two large formations and numerous lodger units. 5th Canadian Division Support Group provides personnel, operational, logistical, financial, safety and environmental services to all Base units as well as military units across all four Atlantic Provinces and the Canadian Combat Support Brigade.

Intent of the process

The intent of this process is to fill one full-time indeterminate (permanent) position in Gagetown, New Brunswick. The official location of the position to be staffed is 5 CDSB Gagetown and requires full-time onsite attendance. This position is bilingual imperative (CBC/CBC).

If an insufficient number of qualified candidates meet the bilingual imperative (CBC/CBC) linguistic profile, a bilingual non-imperative appointment may be considered.

A pool of partially or essentially qualified candidates may be established through this process and may be used to staff identical or similar positions at the Department of National Defence.

EDUCATION

ED1. Graduation from a two-year program of study from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed.

Note:
1. Indeterminate incumbents in the IT group on December 9, 2021 who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
2. Indeterminate incumbents of positions in the CS group on May 10, 1999, who do not possess the education prescribed above, are deemed to meet the minimum education standard based on their education, training and/or experience. They must be accepted as having met the minimum education standard whenever this standard is called for when staffing positions in the IT group.
3. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience may serve as an alternative to the minimum education stated above. Whenever the minimum education is met using this alternative, it is met for the specific position only and must be re-assessed for other positions for which this alternative has been specified by the manager.

EX1. Experience working with the following:
• Microsoft Exchange 2016;
• Windows 10;
• Microsoft Office Suite 2010; and
• Microsoft 365.

EX2. Experience in PC configuration, maintenance, and networking.

EX3. Experience working with Active Directory in a Windows Server environment.
