Duties

The Outreach Officer on the Consultation Services team actively takes part in the design, the development, and implementation of Election Canada's consultations including those with specific groups. This involves planning from initiation to execution including logistics and coordinating with electors and the organizations that serve them. They also analyze consultation data to help create summaries, reports, lessons learned, and recommendations for Election Canada. Daily tasks include creating timelines and agendas, scheduling, and communicating and collaborating with both internal and external stakeholders.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position with a BBB/BBB linguistic profile.

A pool of fully or partially qualified candidates may be established to fill positions at the same or equivalent group and level within Elections Canada with varying tenures (such as specified period, indeterminate, acting) and with various linguistic profiles.

EDUCATION
A degree from a recognized post-secondary institution.
Notes:
1. Based on their education, training and/or experience, indeterminate incumbents of positions in the IS classification are deemed
to meet the minimum education standard whenever a bachelor’s degree without specialization is called for in a position classified as IS.
2. At the manager’s discretion, an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience, may serve as an alternative to the minimum education standard.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
-Significant* experience developing and writing a variety of communications products such as briefing materials, Web content, brochures, backgrounders, social media messages, reports, information kits or presentations.
-Experience in organizing and delivering external events with stakeholders such as consultation meetings, conferences, workshops or other external communications or outreach events.
-Experience in leading projects from conception through completion and follow-up.
-Experience in providing strategic advice to management in support of organizational priorities or initiatives.

Significant* experience is defined as experience in performing the identified duties as part of regular duties over approximately two (2) years.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS
-Experience in developing communications products for or consulting with specialized target audiences such as, youth, new Canadians, Indigenous communities, or people with disabilities.
-Experience in liaising with and coordinating the work of external service providers such as advertising agencies, graphic designers, linguists, printing companies, production companies, or communications consultants.
-Experience in preparing purchasing, procurement or contracting documents, or managing contracts.
-Experience in making presentations or facilitating discussions with various stakeholders.
-Experience assigning tasks and overseeing the work of junior staff.
