Duties

Provides general maintenance, repair and labour services to support grounds, roads and facilities maintenance; construction and installations; and other general maintenance and repair requirements for the Parks Canada Agency.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to fill 2 temporary positions in Churchill and York Factory, Manitoba. This process may be used to staff future vacancies on a term, indeterminate (permanent), acting or assignment basis.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

• A high school or vocational diploma, or an acceptable combination of formal education (minimum 3 years of high school), training and experience.

Degree equivalency

• Experience in maintenance and repair of facilities and structures (e.g. trails, walkways, fences, railings, cribs, lean-tos, huts; campsites, shrubs, grass, beach areas, and culverts).

• Experience in using tools and equipment (e.g. power, mechanical, motorized) to instal structures (e.g. cribs, fences, posts, signs); and perform other general maintenance and repair tasks.

• Experience with inspection, maintenance, and repair of tools and equipment.

• Experience in the performance of vehicle maintenance.

• Experience in the operation of small boats, motors, and snowmobiles.

• Experience or willingness to work at heights.

• Experience using a computer for basic tasks including email and completing forms.

Conditions of employment

• Reliability Status security clearance
• Valid Class 5 driver's license (or equivalent)
• Selected candidates will be required to undergo and pass pre-placement and periodic medical checks; candidates and their dependents may also be required to undergo pre-placement and periodic medicals due to the isolated location of the positions
• Work and/or travel in varied terrains, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation (boat, helicopter, snow machine, fixed wing small aircraft)
• Willingness to work in a remote location for an extended period of time
