EDUCATION

EG-02 and EG-03
- Diploma of Collegial Studies (DCS) related to environmental sciences or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training in a field related to the position.

EG-04
- Bachelor's degree related to environmental science or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training in a field related to the position.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES

EG-03 and EG-04
- Experience in participating in all phases of applied science field projects including logistics, data collection, data analysis and presentation of results.

- Experience in the preparation of technical or scientific reports (e.g., field protocol, manuscript section writing) and preparation of popularized material (presentation or information to be published on the Web.)

EG-04
- Experience in data interpretation, field team coordination and report writing.

KEY COMPETENCIES

EG-02, EG-03 and EG-04
- Ability to comply with appropriate protocols for data and sample collection.
- Ability to perform data entry in accordance with standards, database management (cleaning and formatting), basic statistical analysis and models using various media and software.
- Ability to integrate well into a group and work effectively in a team.

EG-03 and EG-04
- Ability to review and synthesize literature.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
- Ability to plan and organize work in the short and medium term based on a definition of expected results.
- Ability to collaborate in the preparation and presentation of scientific results and reports and to communicate with a variety of audiences using a variety of tools.

EG-04
- Ability to interpret results from statistical analyses.
- Ability to coordinate teams and field operations.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (ASSETS)

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION
- Bachelor's degree related to environmental science or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training in a field related to the position.

- Graduate university diploma (Master's) in environmental sciences or an acceptable combination of education, experience and training in a field related to the position.

- Valid Pleasure Craft Operator Certificate.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCES
- Experience in fieldwork or scientific research in forest or freshwater environments.

- Experience working in an isolated environment.

- Experiences in database management, analysis and interpretation of ecological data.

- Expérience dans la coordination d’équipe de travail, dans la planification opérationnelle et de rédaction de rapport.

- Experience in interpreting results from data analysis.

Conditions of employment

Reliability Status security clearance

Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 driver's license.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
- Agree to work irregular hours (e.g., evenings, weekends, holidays) and overtime.
- Agree to take the training and certifications required for the position (e.g., remote first aid, pleasure craft operator, off-road vehicle operator).
- Requirement to wear Parks Canada uniform in accordance with Parks Canada's dress policy and all necessary personal protective equipment, as required by the Agency.
- Requires work in a variety of terrains, in varying weather conditions, in remote locations, and to travel by various means of transportation.
- Requires certain physical tasks as required by the position and will be required to undergo periodic medical examinations.
