Duties

As a Human Resources Assistant working in staffing, you may be asked to:
✔ Maintain electronic staffing files, ensuring that all required documentation is on each file
✔ Draft advertisements and notifications to staff positions using the Public Service Resourcing System (PSRS) (what you are looking at right now!)
✔ Draft and issue letters of offer, email notifications and other staffing related documents
✔ Coordinate with candidates on selection processes (just like this one!) such as sending invitations to exams, interviews, etc., and responding to accommodation and rescheduling requests
✔ Prepare and maintain assessment board reports in Excel to track the assessment results from selection processes
✔ Liaise with clients to request documentation and information
✔ Collaborate with the Human Resources Advisor to support the client’s staffing needs
✔ Complete data entries in a Human Resources Information Management System

The Human Resources staffing unit is currently located in downtown Edmonton, AB, but it is anticipated that the unit will be moving to Sherwood Park, AB in 2026.

Intent of the process

This is an anticipatory staffing process designed to create a pool of qualified candidates for the Staffing Unit in Edmonton. The pool of qualified candidates may be used to staff similar positions with various tenures (i.e. indeterminate, term, deployment, acting, assignment and secondment) within the Alberta Royal Canadian Mounted Police.

Please note that hybrid opportunities may be available, depending on the position to be staffed. Virtual employment will not be considered.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Successful completion of two years of secondary school, or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience using Microsoft applications Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Experience with inputting, reviewing, and extracting data/information from databases or files.

Experience in managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Experience providing administrative support services to clients.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Successful completion of post-secondary education in office administration or office assistant program.
Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in human resources management, labour or industrial relations, psychology, public or business administration, organizational development, education sciences, social sciences, sociology, or in any other field relevant to the work to be performed.

Degree equivalency

Experience maintaining a Human Resources Management System, such as PeopleSoft, beyond self-service.

Experience providing administrative support services related to human resources (Staffing, compensation, Labour Relations, or in any other HR discipline).

Advanced* experience using word processing software such as Microsoft Word
* Advanced may include using mail merge, envelopes, headers, footnotes, formatting page layout, and table of contents

Advanced** experience using spreadsheet software such as Microsoft Excel
**Advanced may include using data tables, pivot tables, sorting, filtering, and using various functions and formulas

Experience applying policies or procedures
