The area of selection is limited to Indigenous Peoples. An Indigenous person is a North American Indian or a member of a First Nation, Métis or Inuit. North American Indians or members of a First Nation include treaty, status or registered Indians, as well as non-status and non-registered Indians. Most positions in the public service are hybrid (combination of onsite and offsite work). On an exceptional basis and where operationally feasible, Indigenous public servants whose location in their home community is critical to their identity may be allowed to work from their home community. This is decided on a case-by-case basis and must be discussed with the hiring manager.
