Work environment

Stream 1 - Whitehorse

Working within the capital city of Yukon Territory. Whitehorse is known as the “Wilderness City”, Whitehorse has the great outdoors at its doorstep. More than 700 kilometers of marked trails run along the river and out to picture-perfect lakes with breathtaking mountaintop views. Whitehorse is the largest city in the Yukon, with a year-round population of about 36,000. Residents enjoy unparalleled access to the surrounding wilderness and outdoor adventure of Canada's Yukon Territory.

The position delivers RCMP facilities and property management services to all RCMP assets of the Yukon Territory. Including design and implementation of projects related to maintenance, fit-up, alternations, renovation and repairs as well as tenant services in leases and crown-owned buildings for both detachments and housing. Involving regular interaction with RCMP members as well as the general public.

Stream 1 and 2 - Surrey, BC

Surrey, BC is a haven for outdoor adventurers and city slickers alike, known for its spectacular natural scenery, wealth of green spaces and quirky mix of urban and rural.

The position delivers RCMP Leasing Contracts for all of BC and Yukon. Leasing Officers are
responsible for supporting the implementation and execution for RCMP's regional/national property Leasing programs, initiatives, assigned projects, sub-projects and communications plans; and for the assisting in the implementation of management and administrative procedures and systems needed for successful delivery of RCMP regional leasing programs and initiatives.

The RCMP's regional leased property portfolio includes: detachments, housing, office buildings, laboratories, patrol cabins, radio repeaters, warehouses, hangers, storage and training facilities.

This position is located in a law enforcement environment which includes regular contact with uniformed and armed police officers.

Person(s) may be able to work Telework up to 2 days per week, upon approval of the manager.

Intent of the process

The anticipated intent/result of this process is to indeterminately staff (on a full time basis) one position (Whitehorse).

A qualified group of candidates may be identified and may be used to staff future permanent or temporary vacancies (including terms, actings, casuals, assignments and secondments) in similar-level positions (at full or part-time hours, including shift-work). Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of one year and may be extended.

Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

Depending on the requirements of the position(s) being staffed from this process, for current or future vacancies, any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements, and organizational needs may be applied at the time of staffing. Interested persons must meet the essential qualifications to be appointed to the position, in a manner determined by the Selection Board. A person may be appointed to the position even though he/she does not meet any or all of the asset qualifications, operational requirements or organizational needs. However, meeting these criteria is desirable and may be a deciding factor in choosing the person to be appointed.

You must answer the question regarding which Stream(s) you are applying to. Failure to indicate that you are applying to a given stream will result in you being eliminated from that stream.

Once established, the qualified pool will be valid for a period of 12 months and may be extended.

Practical and/or standardized tests may be administered for screening and/or assessment purposes.

Please note that candidates (including persons employed in the Public Service) will not be considered to be in travel status or on government business and travel costs will not be reimbursed. Consequently, candidates will be responsible for travel costs.

Random selection may be used to identify which applicants will be assessed or appointed in this appointment process.

If a qualified candidate has been selected and appointed on an indeterminate basis from the established pool, they will be removed from the pool. If a candidate is selected for a specified period (including term, acting, or assignment/secondment) appointment, they will remain in the pool for future offers.
