The Chief of Institutional Services is responsible for managing a variety of services including warehousing, inventory control, shipping and receiving, inmate purchasing, canteen, housekeeping, laundry, and clothing distribution. They handle the purchase, tracking, and maintenance of supplies, clothing, equipment, and furniture. Ensuring safety by purchasing and monitoring products as per safety guidelines, including handling hazardous materials, is part of their role. They are also in charge of procuring routine supplies, approving procurements, distributing regulation and protective clothing to inmates and staff, managing the pest control program, and overseeing budgeting, cash forecasting, and resource management.

The Chief of Material Management is responsible for overseeing the procurement, contracting, purchasing, and asset management of institutional equipment and supplies. They handle contract and proposal preparation, manage stock control and distribution, and provide guidance on material management policies. Additionally, they supervise inmate canteen operations and oversee a computerized system for inventory control. Their role also includes the supervision and training of inmates, ensuring positive workplace behavior and improved employability skills. Finally, they manage the human, physical, and financial resources of the Material Management section.
The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) is the federal government agency responsible for administering sentences of a term of two years or more, as imposed by the courts. CSC is responsible for managing institutions of various security levels and supervising offenders under conditional release in the community.
