Education
E1. A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note:
1. The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience
EX1. Experience conducting analytical and technical activities in geo-spatial projects.
EX2. Experience conducting land cover classification using remotely sensed imagery from satellite or drone platforms.
EX3. Experience collecting data using a drone and processing using software such as Pix4Dmapper and Metashape.
EX4. Experience maintaining technical logs, files, records, databases, and inventories.
EX5. Experience using various geo-spatial software programs such as ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, Catalyst.
EX6. Experience compiling and presenting geo-spatial data in digital, graphic, chart or map, or other representational form.

Knowledge
K1. Knowledge of custom programming within geo-spatial software using scripting languages such as Python, JavaScript, R.
K2. Knowledge of current methods, techniques, and procedures to input, process, and produce geo-spatial data.
K3. Knowledge in the collection of field data for use in spatial analysis.
K4. Knowledge of the use of drone-based sensors for collection, processing, and analysis of data for spatial analysis.

Abilities & Competencies
A1. Ability to design detailed charts, graphs and maps for publication.
A2. Ability to identify, extract, organize and synthesize relevant spatial and non-spatial information.
A3. Ability to organize work and establish priorities to meet deadlines.
A4. Ability to communicate effectively orally.
A5. Ability to communicate effectively in writing.

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Willing and able to travel within Canada (and abroad), including travel by car, rail and air.
· The work requires long periods of sustained attention to a computer screen.
