The Canadian Geodetic Survey (CGS) provides fundamental values for positioning and measurement of the Earth gravity field, including GNSS data products and applications enabling accurate and coherent positioning across the country. These products serve as the common geospatial foundation for all mapping, charting, navigation, boundary demarcation, crustal deformation, and other georeferencing and Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) needs in Canada and internationally.
Under the authority of the Director, the incumbent will provide expertise and leadership for the development and implementation of modern GNSS products providing access to the Canadian Spatial Reference System (CSRS), including Precise Point Positioning. They will also plan and support R&D, operational activities, and geodetic capacity development in the context of departmental and government S&T priorities; monitor and lead new developments in space-based geodesy; and represent the Division at national and international forums.
The intent of this process is to staff one (1) indeterminate position within the Surveyor General Branch, located at 580 Booth street, Ottawa, Ontario.
A pool of qualified candidates may be established through this process to staff identical or similar EN-SUR-05 positions at Natural Resources Canada with various tenures (determinate period or indeterminate), language requirements (English Essential, French Essential, English or French Essential and Bilingual Imperative or Non-Imperative) and profile(s) (BBB/BBB, CBC/CBC,CCC/CCC, etc.), various security requirements (Reliability or Secret clearance), and various locations and conditions of employment.

ESSENTIAL EDUCATION:
• Graduation with a degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with acceptable specialization in geodesy or other related field such as geomatics, physics, geophysics, land survey theory and practice, or remote sensing.
ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE:
• Experience developing and communicating innovative GNSS techniques and/or algorithms.
• Experience planning and executing operational GNSS-based technology development projects in a team environment to meet geodetic science objectives.
• Experience leading collaborations and/or partnerships at the national and international level to advance GNSS and related geodetic technologies.
• Experience providing technical and strategic recommendations to senior management*.
*Senior management is defined as Director level or equivalent and above (Private Sector = Director, Senior manager, general manager etc.)
ASSET EDUCATION:
• Graduation with an MSc or Doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in Geodesy.
ASSET EXPERIENCE:
• Experience managing human, financial and material resources.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willing and able to travel.
• Willing and able to work flexible hours and overtime.
