1. Assist scientific staff in the organization and completion of field, laboratory and office tasks related to forest research experiments. Activities may include planning and conducting field data collection following established protocols, processing, and measuring samples, field site evaluations, and leading other support staff.
2. Assist in the management of data collected from field sites. This includes the handling and filing of hard copy data, data entry into digital formats, data and quality control using standard computer software.
3. Maintains equipment (e.g. instruments, field equipment, data loggers, and vehicles) and facilities (e.g. lab and storage facilities) and to be organized clean and in working order.
4. Assist operational staff with preparation for and supervision of tree planting, chemical site preparation, block layout, and forest audits after forest management and operational activities have been implemented. Aid and assist tree plant preparations within forest research areas which may include, plot layout, location of experimental boundaries, installing and maintaining experimental landmarks (pins, tags, posts).
5. Adheres to health and safety guidelines, processes, and procedures.

Graduation with a degree or technical diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution in one of the following areas: Forestry, Forest Science, Forest Technology, Natural Resource Technology, Natural Environment Technology, or another related degree or technical diploma from a natural science program.
Experience:
• Significant* experience in forest measurements or forest inventory surveys.
• Significant* experience operating and maintaining field or laboratory instruments.
• Significant* experience in scientific database management, including collecting, organizing, and compiling data.
• Significant* experience presenting analytical and statistical data in numeric, graphic, and narrative form.
• Significant* experience with use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
• Experience preparing technical reports.
*Significant experience means experience in the field or lab for at least 2 years.
