Today the RCMP provides police services to Canadians in the three territories and eight of the provinces, as well as hundreds of cities, municipalities and Indigenous communities.
In Saskatchewan, the RCMP Strategic Communications Services team supports policing operations and investigations all across RCMP jurisdiction by creating a wide range of multi-dimensional communications products and services. This includes strategically telling the RCMP story on and with social media, video production, photography, website creation, news releases and various other written products, among others.
No two days are the same working on the Saskatchewan RCMP Strategic Communications team.

A pool of candidates will be established and will be used to staff similar positions within the Saskatchewan RCMP on an indeterminate or specified period (including term, acting, or assignment) basis, with various linguistic profiles and various RCMP security clearances.
Should a Civilian Member (CM) be found qualified and selected for appointment, the appointment will not result in a change of status to the Public Service (PS) category for the CM.

** Communication Advisor is defined as the last level before having a supervisory position. A Communication Advisor normally has their own clients and communication portfolio to manage. Duties:
Portfolios/Streams: we are seeking applicants for the following portfolios/streams on the Saskatchewan RCMP Strategic Communications Services team. Please specifically identify which portfolio/stream you are applying for and ensure you write your responses to the screening questions with your selected portfolio/stream in mind.
As an IS-03 you would be responsible for ONE of the following streams of duties:
• Stream 1: Media relations officer
o The Saskatchewan RCMP’s fast-paced communications team distributes 700+ news releases and responds to 1400+ media inquiries annually. The media relations team is at the heart of fostering relationships both within the RCMP and outside partners, collaborating with subject matter experts and RCMP detachment commanders and ensuring the timely and appropriate release of information to the public and news agencies. The media relations officer will be a whiz at drafting, reviewing and editing timely news releases and is confident in responding to inquiries. They may act as or prepare RCMP spokespersons, plan news conferences and may be tasked with gathering and editing video or photographs to support media relations product creation.
• Stream 2: Social media officer
o With a combined 172,000+ followers on the Saskatchewan RCMP’s social media platforms, the new media team is essential to communicating our story with the public and communities we serve. There’s always something new happening on this fast-paced team and being able to pivot quickly based on emerging events is key. In the social media role, you will be required to recommend and create social media content including being responsible for writing, video production, photography and graphics. You will consult with subject matter experts and manage content planning of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s social media schedule and annual calendar.
• Stream 3: Video and production officer
o The Saskatchewan RCMP uses video to help tell the RCMP story. As a video and production officer, you will have professional experience as a videographer and audio/video editor, photographer/editor and delivering creative new media products within very tight deadlines. You have skills in motion graphics or text animation and are confident working in the full Adobe production suite including Premiere, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, Lightroom, among others. You will have experience shooting video on DSLR cameras, basic lighting and audio/microphone recording skills. The products created will support policing operations and divisional goals. They’ll target internal, local and even international audiences. This position will work in tandem with communications team members and see new media products through from the pre to post-production stage.
• Stream 4: Web development officer
o With Saskatchewan RCMP employees located all across the province, the web development officer role is key to maintaining employee connection. This role is responsible for making recommendations for the internal and external websites and writing and sharing important stories within Saskatchewan. This position will write content for internal and external web-based audiences and will be responsible for fostering relationships within the division, collaborating with subject matter experts and RCMP detachment commanders and units, ensuring the timely and appropriate sharing of information. As a web development officer, you must have experience in/understanding of HTML/coding and basic graphic design skills and be confident working in the Adobe suite including Dreamweaver and Photoshop, among others, and working within web-based content management systems.
Other Information:
You will be required to demonstrate how you meet the education and experience criteria (essential and asset) for the initial screening, in answering online screening questions. We cannot make any assumptions about your experience. Simply saying you have the required qualifications or listing your current duties is not enough.
