Under the joint supervision of a biotechnological engineering researcher (AAFC), a nutritionist (AAFC), and a professor in any life science related to cell culture (University to be determined), the successful candidate will carry out a research project on the design and validation of an absorption process using a membrane composed of enterocyte cells (ideally in tissue form) specific to human digestion.
This work is part of a larger study that examines several aspects of Canadian cultured foods (cellular agriculture) with a view to diversifying Canadians' food sources and collecting data for the regulation of Canada's emerging cellular agriculture industry. We are therefore looking for a curious and motivated individual to perform the following tasks: literature research and analysis, planning and execution of laboratory experiments (cell culture, cell manipulation, cell bioengineering, etc.), data analysis, and preparation of progress reports and manuscripts.
The successful candidate will join a collaborative team within the New Harvest Graduate Student Network
The workplace is the Saint-Hyacinthe Research and Development Centre. More specifically, the in vitro digestion laboratory under the supervision of Yves Arcand, Ph.D. and Isabelle Germain, Ph.D. MSc DtP.
The laboratory specializes in the development and use of different in vitro digestion systems and digesta analysis.

Education:
Currently enrolled or will be enrolled by the date of appointment in a PhD program at a recognized post-secondary institution with specialization in biochemistry or biotechnology.
Note: Must be currently recognized as having full-time student status in the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled, pending approval of acceptance or in the process of submitting your application. Proof of enrollment will be required prior to start date and the student must be returning to full-time studies for your next academic term.
*The student must meet the eligibility criteria to enroll at a university of their choice offering a recognized Ph.D. degree.
Experience:
