EDUCATION:
- A secondary school diploma or an acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
EXPERIENCE:
- Significant* experience working with the offices of a Deputy Minister, Minister, Assistant Deputy Minister/Assistant Secretary or equivalent (such as, but not limited to a Chief Executive Officer, Vice-President, Members of Legislative Assemblies);
- Experience in coordinating and preparing briefing material in support of senior leaders** in their duties in the area of parliamentary affairs, communications, Cabinet support or equivalent;
- Experience in providing senior leaders** with advice on program, policy, Cabinet or parliamentary matters;
- Experience in working with officials responsible for Cabinet or parliamentary functions (e.g., procedural clerks, central agencies, liaising with Cabinet and Parliamentary Affairs offices in government).
* Significant experience the depth and breadth of experience that is normally acquired over an approximate period of three (3) cumulative years.
** Senior leader is defined as Executive Director or Director General level (EX-03) and above within the public service. In the private sector, senior leaders are considered to be at a senior executive level such as, but not limited to Comptroller, Vice President, Director General or equivalent and above.

Stream 1 – Parliamentary Relations Officer:
- Knowledge of parliamentary rules and practices and of the decision-making processes of the House of Commons, the Senate and their committees.
Stream 2 – Cabinet Affairs Officer:
- Knowledge of the functions, responsibilities and decision-making processes of central agencies and of the Cabinet process.

Secret security clearance - A valid secret security clearance is a condition of employment required for an appointment at the Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS).
