• Drives organizational change and work with multiple business units of a large organization to effect change.
• Leads, coaches, and mentors project teams to incorporate security into enterprise and client-facing applications.
• Plans, manages and improves four Corporate Security Controls while liaising with operational security risk owners across the organization.
• Develops, improves and maintains corporate security policies and procedures.

• Builds and maintains effective working relationships with PPS staff and senior management as a recognized security authority. Provides expert guidance and advice on corporate security trends and acts as a change agent to create an organization culture which embraces the benefits of a secure business/working environment.
• Coordinates with operational security risk owners and stakeholders to ensure effective cross-functional risk management.
• Chairs and/or participates in various internal and external working groups/committees as a recognized corporate security authority.
• During security events, delivers a defined lead role. Provides authoritative advice and updates and participates in post evaluation exercises.
• Works with other teams on the development of simulation exercises to prepare for security events.
The Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) is a separate and distinct organization and is not subject to the Public Service Employment Act. PPS has its own classification, compensation system and staffing regime. Persons appointed to PPS continue to be part of the federal government and will receive the public service pension plan and public service insurance benefits plan.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a post-secondary educational program* in Criminal Justice, Security and Defence, Public Administration or a related field OR an acceptable combination of education, experience, and training.
*The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
E1 - Recent* and significant** experience in leading large-scale security analysis and in recommending mitigation strategies to address identified risks.
E2 - Significant** experience in the planning and management of a variety of security controls.
E3 - Experience dealing with multiple partners, priorities and projects and working under tight deadlines and with changing priorities within a fast-paced and unique organizational context.
E4 - Recent* and significant** experience producing briefings, briefing notes, presentations and reports to senior management.
E5 - Experience in managing human resources****.
DEFINITIONS:
*Recent means within the last five (5) years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are acquired on a full-time basis over a period of time.
***Human Resources Management is defined as supervision of staff including assigning work, managing and assessing performance, developing and implementing training and staffing plans. Candidates could have acquired experience managing employees during a project. Candidates must indicate in their application the number of employees they supervised directly.
ASSETS
EXPERIENCE:
AE1 – Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in corporate security.
AE2 - Intelligence experience and/or Law Enforcement and/or unionized environments.
AE3 - Experience managing projects or developing corporate security requirements for Canadian Parliament, government or crown corporations.
OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Willingness and ability to work overtime as required.
Willingness and ability to work weekends as required.

You must be eligible to obtain both a Site Access Clearance and a Top Secret clearance. The process involves a background investigation that includes:
• a loyalty assessment;
• law enforcement verifications;
• credit and financial verifications;
• a security interview wherein questions may include (but not limited to), previous employment, online activities, financial situation, alcohol and/or drug use;
• personal references as well as previous employers will also be contacted as part of the security screening process.
You must also consent to completing a personal history questionnaire, be fingerprinted, and photographed.
