Provides administrative support to the Office of the Director General (DG), Prairie Region including but not limited to:
• Coordinating regular management team meetings such as meeting logistics, preparing agenda, coordinating speakers, drafting records of discussion, tracking action items, and planning forward agenda items.
• Providing administrative support to the Senior and Science Advisors.
• Coordinating and arranging meetings/workshops including logistics for virtual platforms.
• Maintaining and updating centralized information repositories.
• Reviewing incoming requests requiring DG approval (e.g., travel, staffing, procurement, IT, etc) by researching established policies/procedures and resolving issues through consultation with clients, and submitting requests for DG signature.
• Seeking clarification on, applying, explaining, and ensuring compliance to departmental administrative policies, procedures, and directives.
Working in a hybrid environment, this position reports to the Director General for the Prairie Region, Science and Technology Branch at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada (AAFC). The Prairie Region consists of six Research and Development Centres plus eight sub locations including research farms and satellite sites. These locations are part of a network of 20 AAFC research centres across Canada. Research conducted in the region includes agro-environmental resilience, livestock production and health, crop breeding, production, genetics, genomics, phenomics, agronomy, weed science and pathology, and bee health. Research activities focus on supporting the long-term competitiveness of the sector while reducing the environmental footprint of agricultural practices and maintaining the health and productivity of the agro-ecosystem.
