At CWS, you will have the opportunity to participate in initiatives to conserve and protect migratory birds, species at risk, natural environments and their biodiversity, in partnership with provinces and territories, Indigenous nations, non-governmental organizations and the public.

A pool of qualified candidates may be established and used to fill similar positions, with different durations of employment, conditions of employment, language requirements, and security levels within the Quebec Regional Division of the Canadian Wildlife Service of Environment and Climate Change Canada.

Education:
Post-secondary diploma or degree of at least two years in natural sciences or in another specialty relevant to the position, such as ecology, natural resource management, or wildlife and habitat conservation.
Experience:
Minimum 3 months of work experience in all of the following aspects:
- preparation and planning of fieldwork.
- conducting fieldwork involving birds.
- acquisition and processing of data collected in the field.
Asset Qualification:
Experience:
- Experience working in remote environments*.
* “Remote environments” means more than two hours from medical assistance.
- Experience in preparing technical or scientific reports.
- Experience on capturing (e.g. mist nets, cannon nets, etc.) and tagging migratory birds (e.g. banding, external transmitters, etc.).
- Experience in tracking migratory birds using various technological tools (e.g. digital recorders, drones, telemetry, geolocators, etc.).
- Experience using geographic information systems (e.g. ArcGIS, etc.).
- Experience in complex** navigation of a motorboat on a waterway.
** The term “complex” refers to an environment subject to tides and/or currents.
- Experience in conducting maintenance and operations work in a protected area.
- Experience in conducting fieldwork in the fauna or flora areas, as well as in their habitats.
