- Responsible for the use, operation, maintenance, calibration, and servicing of specialized NDE equipment which are used to support the department in routine or emergency situations.
- Provide expertise regarding the assessment and evolution of Non-destructive Evaluation / Non-destructive Inspection processes.
- Ensures that NDE/NDI laboratory work is performed to existing policies, methodologies and standards.
- Responsible for the development and execution of nonstandard NDE/NDI test methods.
- Provides non-destructive testing and structures support and expertise to failure analysis, accident investigations, life extension, Quality Assurance and materiel procurement activities.
- Responsible for providing input, giving advice, and making recommendations towards NDT/materials laboratory operation and special purpose test equipment acquisition and acceptance.
- Writing technical reports to convey inspection information, results, and recommendations.

The Quality Engineering Test Establishment (QETE) provides the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) with specialized, technology-based test and investigative services required to support engineering decisions throughout all phases of Materiel Acquisition and Support.
QETE is a CAF field unit assigned to ADM(Mat) with deployable capability both nationally and internationally. QETE provides:
• Failure investigation and analysis
• technical advice and consultation
• material evaluation
• calibration and measurement, in the domains of mechanical and materials engineering
• applied science
• electrical engineering
• measurement science, and
• imagery.
The Munitions Experimental Test Centre (METC) in Valcartier, QC provides tests and evaluations and failure analysis related to weapons, ammunitions, explosives and protective equipment.
There is an immediate need to staff one (1) indeterminate position.
