Please note that one of the positions for Stream 5 (Space Astronomy) will be located in Baltimore, Maryland, in the United States.

HYBRID MODEL
The Canadian Space Agency (CSA) has opted for an approach whereby personnel work on site at least three days a week. Operational needs may require personnel to work on site more than the minimum three days per week.
This pool may be used to fill other positions across the Canadian Space Agency and may be used for
appointments in similar positions with varying employment tenures, locations of work, language requirements, security requirements that may vary depending on the needs of the positions being staffed.

1* - Significant experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least three (3) years within the last ten (10) years. Experience acquired during graduate studies will be considered.
2* - Experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least one (1) year within the last ten (10) years.

1* - Significant experience is defined as the performance of duties related to the specific criterion for a period of at least five (5) years within the last fifteen (15) years. Experience acquired during graduate studies will be considered.

Ed1. Graduation with a Master's or Doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in at least one of: physics, Earth sciences, Solar-Terrestrial sciences, climate science, remote sensing, atmospheric science, astrophysics, geology, planetary science or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily in a program leading to a degree in the required specialization.

• Instrument conception or development.
• Numerical algorithm development for simulation, physical data processing, or data analysis.
• Space mission development.

Assets qualifications are qualifications that are not essential to perform the work, but that would benefit the organization or enhance the work to be performed currently or in the future.
Important: As this is a collective process to be used for a variety of specialized positions, one or more of these asset qualifications may be deemed essential based on the position to be staffed.

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS (FOR ALL STREAMS)
AEd. Doctoral degree from a recognized post-secondary institution, with acceptable specialization in physics, Earth sciences, solar-terrestrial sciences, climate science, remote sensing, atmospheric science, astrophysics, geology, planetary science or some other science relevant to the position.
Note: The courses for the specialization must be acceptable and must have been taken at a recognized post-secondary institution, but not necessarily in a program leading to a degree in the required specialization.
AEx1. Experience (2*) in collecting, processing or analyzing data from science instrumentation or numerical models relevant to the position.
AEx2. Experience (2*) in the definition, design, simulation or demonstration of an instrument relevant to the position.
AEx3. Experience (2*) in the various aspects of the design of a space mission:
• orbital mechanics;
• coverage analysis;
• data processing and handling;
• power;
• thermal;
• space environment requirements.

In assessing candidates, assessment boards may use a variety of tools and methods including, but not limited to, reviews of past performance and accomplishments, written tests, interviews and reference checks.
In addition, all of the information collected during the selection process, including behaviour and communication, from the time of application until the end of the process, may be used to evaluate candidates. Therefore, your application and your answers to the screening questions could be used to assess your ability to communicate effectively in writing.
The asset qualifications, top-down and/or random selection may be used at any stage of the assessment process to identify which applications will be given further consideration.
