Visitor Attendant positions are a great way to spend a summer or to get your foot in

Visitor Services Attendant (GSMPS04) duties:
• Various duties associated with positions in campgrounds, visitor centres, and/or entry
gates.
•Interacting with visitors to support a quality experience, providing information, direction and sales of goods and services.
• Addressing and resolving visitor concerns and complaints.
• Daily cleaning of washrooms, showers and pit privies, litter picking, emptying of garbage and recycling bins, sweeping, and mopping
•Conducting facility rounds to ensure visitor compliance with park regulations.
Working evening shifts will be compensated with an evening shift premium.

Intent of the process

The results from this competition will be used to staff two bilingual positions on a term basis.

The results from this competition may be used to staff similar positions in the future on an indeterminate, term, seasonal or acting assignment basis.

Education:
Successful completion of secondary school according to provincial standards or acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.

Degree equivalency

Experience:
• Experience interacting with the public or co-workers; responding to questions or complaints;
• Experience working in a team environment.

If you possess any of the following, your application must also clearly explain how you meet it (other qualifications)

Asset Experience:
• Experience using a point-of-sale system;
• Experience providing security for special events;
• Experience in interacting with the public in a reception/orientation capacity.

Operational Requirements:
• Work shift-work, and/or weekends, and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays
• Willing to work at various work locations.
• Willing to perform custodial tasks such as cleaning washrooms showers, offices, garbage/recycling collection, facility/site maintenance, and picking litter
• Willing to work outdoors in variable weather conditions
• Willing to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays
• Willing to use physical effort to lift up to 50 lbs with frequent lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs
• Willing to conduct repetitive tasks
• Willing to be exposed to noxious odours from cleaning chemicals, vehicle fumes, and dust
• Willing to demonstrate tasks to others
• Willing to learn and demonstrate Parks Canada’s Code of Values and Ethics in all aspects of work
• Willing to learn First Aid for the workplace

Conditions of employment

Must be met prior to employment:
• Reliability Status security clearance –obtain and maintain a security clearance throughout your employment with the Parks Canada.
• Possession and maintenance of a valid Class 5 Driver's licence or provincial equivalent.
