Duties

Parks Canada’s Protected Area Establishment Branch is looking for a collaborative coordinator to help champion the creation of new protected areas across Canada. As part of the National Park Establishment team you will work with project managers, Indigenous governments and organizations, provincial and territorial governments and stakeholders towards the establishment of new national parks. You will organize and conduct operational program/policy research and analysis and provide implementation, evaluation and other program management services, analysis and input to support the development, delivery and management of the national park establishment program.

Work environment

Park Canada is a federal government agency responsible for the protection and presentation of Canada’s natural and cultural resources through a system of national parks, national marine conservation areas and national historic sites in all regions of Canada.

You will work from Whitehorse, YT with a geographically dispersed team that share the same passion for the protection and conservation of nationally significant areas.

Conditions of employment

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statuary holidays if required.
• Willingness to travel regularly (training, workshops, meetings), including overnight, off sites and/or on weekends including in remote locations.
• Possession of a valid Driver’s license or personal mobility to the extent normally associated with the possession of a valid Driver’s license within the limits of the Treasury Board Policy.
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required.
