The Parliamentary Protective Service Real Property and Facilities branch is currently looking to staff the position of Interior Designer Advisor – Building Components. The Interior Designer Building Component (BC) is responsible for the delivery of interior design (ID) and building component services to the Parliamentary Protective Service (PPS) in support of Programs of work:
LTVP Funded, Capitalization and/or re-Capitalization projects.
You will provide direction, including the planning, management and implementation of ID and building component projects as they relate to one of the three Programs of Work. The strategic direction and technical expertise provided to the projects ensure a high-level approach to interior design, respecting codes and regulations, best practice, innovation and heritage design. Responsibilities include planning and consulting with clients on the identification and selection of functional interior design and building component requirements and ensuring quality assurance and integration across all project phases.

EDUCATION:
Successful completion of a post-secondary education in an Interior Design or Architectural Technology program* OR an acceptable combination of education, experience and training.
*The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada. If you completed a program outside of Canada, you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.
EXPERIENCE:
Recent* and Significant** experience working on large design projects with multiple stakeholders whereby the candidate played a role in providing key ID deliverables from inception to close-out.
Recent* and Significant** experience in the application of techniques and practices involved with ergonomics in order to incorporate in design concepts.
Experience with leading a variety of project types or multiple, concurrent projects in various stages of development.
Experience collaborating with other team members, coordinating work streams and optimizing efficiencies within deliverables.
Recent* and Significant* experience with Autodesk AutoCAD Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.) and Adobe equivalent.
DEFINITIONS:
*Recent means within the last five (5) years.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally associated with having performed a broad range of complex activities related to this task, which are acquired on a full-time basis for a period of three (3) years.
ASSETS:
Membership in a recognized Canadian Professional Interior Design Association.
Significant** experience in project management.
Experience in developing reports, providing technical guidance and making impartial recommendations.
Experience in providing and maintaining project schedules.
Strong knowledge of materials and fabrication techniques within the built environment.
