Duties

In terms of supervision of employees, most of the time, the senior analyst will be supervising about 4 full-time employees. However, during a general election, the senior analyst will be supervising a much bigger team of approximately 60 employees while supported by a team of supervisors. The senior analyst will be responsible for hiring these additional staff through agencies; preparing schedules while also liaising with internal and external partners in a fast-paced operational environment.

UNIQUE WORK LOCATION
The warehouse at 440 Coventry Road in Ottawa is the workplace of our Alternative Voting Methods team. It also houses the Distribution Centre. There are many benefits to this location as well, such as free parking, easy access to public transit and reserved bike space. Plus, the St. Laurent Shopping Centre is just next door.

Intent of the process

The immediate intent of this process is to staff 1 indeterminate (permanent) position with bilingual imperative CBC/CBC linguistic profile.

A pool of partially qualified candidates may be established to fill positions at the same or equivalent group and level within the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer with varying tenures (such as specified period (term), indeterminate (permanent) and casual).

Essential qualifications

EDUCATION
A secondary school diploma or employer-approved alternatives (see Note 1).

Note 1: The employer-approved alternatives to a secondary school diploma are:
• A satisfactory score on the Public Service Commission test approved as an alternative to a secondary school diploma; or
• An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
• Experience in providing data quality assurance, control and integrity functions.
• Experience in providing recommendations on systems improvements and solutions to meet operational needs.*
*This includes occasionally conducting system regression/integration, performance testing and participating in simulations.
• Experience in supervising employees.

ASSET EDUCATION
Successful completion of post-secondary school certificate or diploma (includes college or university).

Degree equivalency

ASSET QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience in providing training.
• Experience working in an electoral context.
• Experience in writing procedures and documenting technical systems and other processes such as running SQL queries.
• Experience in working in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Experience in working with stakeholders/external partners to ensure successful delivery of a national program.
