Education
Successful completion of secondary school or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience in a field related to the position.
Occupational Certification
Possession of a valid Provincial or Inter-provincial Journeyman Certificate as a Carpenter with Red Seal Endorsement.
Experience
• Experience in providing skilled carpentry services.
• Experience in interpreting blueprints, specifications, and elevation drawings.
• Experience in methods and techniques in the operation of shop machines and hand tools.

Knowledge
• Knowledge of the principles of carpentry and their application.
• Knowledge of health and safety legislation and safe work practices pertaining to asset management and operations.
• Knowledge of national building codes, fire and electrical codes.
• Knowledge of WHMIS.
Abilities
• Ability to use various hand and power tools.
• Ability to interpret drawings, blueprints, specifications and elevation drawings.
• Ability to communicate orally and in writing to a broad range of groups and individuals.

Operational Requirements
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required.

• Willingness to operate and maintain power and hand tools.
• Willingness to work and/or travel in varied terrain, weather conditions, isolated locations and by various means of transportation.

• Willingness to work overtime on occasion, possibly on short notice.
