Duties

As a Senior Business Analyst, your role will be to help the Agency’s various clients / stakeholders make better, informed decisions by changing and maintaining Corporate systems. In order to fulfill this role, the Analyst will be responsible for:

► Recommending new technologies including COTS, Cloud and AI toolsets.
► Supporting the gathering and documentation of business requirements and translating these requirements into viable technology upgrades or maintenance.
► Presents detailed business requirements to IT and other groups as required assisting them in understanding the requirements and the business needs.
► Collaborating with other IMIT analysts to design Corporate software’s and Collaboration tools such as M365.
► Creates documentation in support of business case development, projects and supporting activities, including case studies, findings, conclusions, recommendations, request for proposal, data and process flow diagrams, and roadmaps.
► Contribute to shaping and organizing the overall framework of the corporate’s systems and processes.
► Enhance informed decision-making within the Centre by offering valuable insights and practical recommendations.
► Facilitates connections between various business sectors and teams.

📍 This position requires onsite presence at our Ottawa headquarters (234 Laurier Avenue West, Ottawa, Ontario).

🎓 EDUCATION

A diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution with an acceptable specialization in computer science, information technology, information management or another specialty relevant to the position to be staffed OR an acceptable combination of education, training and relevant experience.

✔️ EXPERIENCE

EX1. Extensive* experience performing the functions of a BA which includes the following activities:

- Planning the execution of business analysis activities;
- Designing, modeling and validating business process flows;
- Eliciting, analyzing, validating, documenting and prioritizing business needs and requirements;
- Assessing proposed solutions against the business needs, anticipated business outcomes and requirements;

EX2. Experience conducting business analysis in an IM or IT environment.

EX3. Experience facilitating communications with and between business clients and technology implementation teams or support teams.

EX4. Experience presenting analysis results and recommendations to business clients, and implementation teams or support teams.

EX5. Experience establishing and maintaining effective collaborative business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

*Extensive experience is defined as having performed those duties on a regular basis two (2) years or more within the last five (5) years.

AEX1. Experience working with an enterprise-wide requirements management system.

AEX2. Experience providing business analysis supporting strategic concerns of stakeholders and ongoing transformation efforts such as use of business architecture, business models, business case/value proposition, and continuous improvement techniques.

AEX3. Successful completion of a formal business analysis training or certification program such as CBAP, PMI-PBA and/or holding an active business analysis designation.

► Willingness and ability to work overtime on weekends and evenings occasionally, sometimes with short notice.

Conditions of employment

Top Secret security clearance - You must be a Canadian Citizen and eligible for a Top Secret security clearance to FINTRAC's standards.

FINTRAC’s process includes a suitability interview, a credit and financial check, fingerprinting, a background investigation covering at least the last 10 years, as well as other assessments necessary to determine a candidate’s suitability for work at FINTRAC.

Candidates must be able to produce sufficient records to any period of time spent outside of Canada and may be subject to further assessment.

As needed, candidates may be required to submit security documentation and may be subject to security investigations at any phase of the selection process.

Suitability is an on-going condition of employment at FINTRAC and must be maintained.
