The member is responsible for:
All of NACB’s incoming and outgoing exhibit submissions using mail and courier services.
Reviewing all exhibit submissions and completing a triage to separate them between the court examination stream (if charges have been laid) or the non-court examination stream. This includes consulting with the team lead to prioritize files requiring shorter turnaround times.
Creating case files in the National Forensic Services (NFS) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and completing all tombstone data entries.
Ensuring the proper receipt, possession, recording, continuity, security, storing and internal transmittal of exhibits
Final preparation of court case files with labelling of exhibits, LIMS imaging of related documents and proper storage to maintain chain of custody.
Entering exhibit and case data in the NACB Counterfeits Database.
Act as the point of contact with police agencies in regards to case file submissions. This includes liaising with the police contact to inform them of diary dates and clarifying exhibit discrepancies when necessary.
Completion of independent reviews of LIMS entries performed by other verification technicians.
Work is performed in a laboratory environment and requires sitting and using a computer. Concentration is required as documents are part of criminal investigation processes there is no control over the pace of work and there is no tolerance for errors, which can be stressful. There is physical effort required to handle bags of documents.
Position is located at 1200 Vanier Parkway, Ottawa ON. Hybrid work is not an option for these positions, candidates will be required to work on site.
This is an RCMP Civilian Member process. The selected qualified candidates will be hired as RCMP Civilian Members under the RCMP Act.
There is an immediate need to staff one position at the FLI-FIT-01 group and level on an indeterminate basis, with a linguistic profile of Bilingual Imperative (BBB/BBB) and RCMP Enhanced Reliability with Secret security clearance.
A pool of candidates may be established to staff other vacancies within this group and level within the RCMP in the National Capital Region on an indeterminate basis, with various linguistic profiles and RCMP security clearances.
