Duties

As Finance and Administration Manager of Waterton Lakes Field Unit, which includes Waterton Lakes National Park and Bar U Ranch National Historic Site, you will provide advice and guidance to senior management in a medium sized, moderately complex Field Unit where the provision of financial services is of primary importance. This position is an integral member of the Waterton Lakes Field Unit management team and will lend their expertise to our operations throughout the region.

Intent of the process

This process will be used to staff one indeterminate (permanent) full-time position on-location in Waterton Lakes National Park.

This process may also be used to create a list of qualified candidates to staff similar positions with various tenures, security levels, linguistic requirements, or work locations.

In order to be considered, your application must clearly explain how you meet the following (essential qualifications)

EDUCATION
Graduation with a degree from a recognized university with acceptable specialization in accounting, finance, business administration, commerce or economics
OR
An acceptable combination of experience, education and skills equivalent to eligibility for a recognized professional accounting designation with experience related to positions in finance

Degree equivalency

EXPERIENCE
EX1: Experience managing the delivery of financial and administrative services (such as budget management, salary management, accounts receivable, material management, conducting financial analyses and reports, and records management)
EX2: Experience preparing, analyzing and interpreting financial management reports, and conducting financial analyses, budgeting, forecasting, and costing
EX3: Experience providing strategic advice on financial policies, directives and guidelines to a wide variety of stakeholders

KNOWLEDGE
K1: Knowledge of Government of Canada legislation, regulations and directives and financial, contracting and general administration practices
K2: Knowledge of financial resource management, financial planning, forecasting, accounting and reporting practices in the public sector

ASSET EXPERIENCE
• Experience managing a budget for capital assets
• Experience working for Parks Canada in the area of Financial Management

OPERATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
• Willingness to wear a Parks Canada uniform when required;
• Willingness to work irregular hours, overtime, weekends and/or statutory holidays and provincial/territorial holidays, when required;
• Willingness to work and travel frequently within the geographical area of the Waterton Lakes Field Unit including Waterton Lakes National Park and Bar U Ranch National Historic Site.
• Willingness to lift computers, monitors (weight between 10 and 20 kg).
